About us

despalles éditions starts in 1982 in Paris (France) and Mainz (Germany) as a printing, publishing and distribution house for graphics, paperworks and artist‘books, espacially with bilingual typographies (in french and german). Françoise Despalles and Johannes Strugalla, whose books, texts, prints and works on paper shape the program, Important collections worldwide, especially in Europe and the USA, have acquired their publications. Participation in many exhibitions of bookart and international artfairs, workshops for bookart in french artschools, collaboration in various projekts and exhibitions.
In 2012, the former Paris headquarters of Edition became the espace despalles project space.
Here in the Marais, artists, authors, and gallery owners are invited to present their works and to meet the friends of the Edition at exhibitions and readings. The program is especially dedicated to book projects and works on paper.
